Eye examination

Nothing is more important to Tris Coffin Opticians than the health of your eyes. We are privileged to have a team of qualified optometrists on the premises, whose main goal is to keep your eyes healthy. Our examination rooms are equipped with the latest equipment, where you will receive a thorough eye exam and will benefit from advices and recommendations to prevent eye diseases. Each one of our optometrists will perform a deep analysis of your eyes, screening and detecting for glaucoma, macular degeneration, retinal detachment and cataracts. Our state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment enables us to build an eye health chart designed especially for you. Our optometrists also work hand-in-hand with other health professionals, particularly ophtalmologists for patient follow-ups after refractive surgery, or where certain conditions such as glaucoma and diabetes have to be looked after. The following tests will be performed:

Digital retinal imaging: a computerized picture of the back of the eye to track health changes

Automated peripheral vision screening: to test for nerve damage due to glaucoma, tumours and strokes.

Internal eye pressure measurement: to check for the risk of glaucoma

Bio-microscopy: for a more detailed examination of the internal and external layers of the eye.

Digital retinal imaging

Digital retinal imaging, also known as fundography, is the creation of a photograph of the interior surface of the eye. This included the retina, the optic disc, the macula and the posterior pole. Digital retinal imaging is used primarily to detect eye diseases such as glaucoma. With glaucoma, the loss of vision often occurs gradually over a long period of time, and symptoms only appear when the disease is quite advanced. Once the vision is lost, it cannot be recovered, so treatment is aimed at preventing further loss. Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness in the world, after cataracts.

We offer a wide selection of contact lenses including disposable soft contact, bifocal/multifocal, toric, and colored lenses. Whether you wear daily, weekly or monthly disposables, or conventional (vial) lenses, check out our selection of lenses that fit your needs.

A good contact lens fit starts with a thorough eye exam to ensure the most up-to-date prescription and rule out any pre-existing conditions that could interfere with contact lens wear.We will determine the best fitting lens based on your lifestyle needs, the shape and health of your eye. In most cases, you'll have the opportunity to try lenses on the same day as your exam. You can even go home with a few samples before making a final decision. We follow up the initial fitting and then make any necessary changes in fit or materials to get you the best possible fit. We teach all our patients proper contact lens care and also possible consequences if proper care is not taken. Then we continue with long-term follow-up to monitor the condition of the lenses and to ensure that proper hygiene is being maintained.
